adobe photoshop is not a "we cannot crack this nut shell" thing. we know you are searching for photoshop basic tools and their functionality. we got you covered.

this is the first lesson we are posting exclusively for those who learning photoshop. we will help you to quick-up your learning with our further posts.
 
What you need:

we do have different choices of Operating Systems but window, mac os and linux related (Like ubuntu) are preferred. check minimum requirements to install photoshop in different platforms.

after installing, you need to understand different terms, shapes, brushes, tools, effects, blah blah.. but things are quite easy and impressive when you get to know about 'em.

Photoshop desktop:

As most of the parts are self explainable, I will brief you about all sides here!!

Left side-

The Tool Box- it has all the tools, to perform basic actions on the image. actions?? yes. moving an object, crop, select, draw, fill, gradient. type, color, etc..we will see all parts well explained in next sessions. 

Top side-

Menu Bar- this will Contains all the commands necessary to use the program,and advanced image processing commands as well.

Toolbar- this one changes when you select a tool from the toolbox. It provides additional options for each tool.

Right side-

Panels- these box shaped tabs are called as panels, we can get in depth details of images in panels. like color correction, color temperature, brightness and contrast, B&W, hue, color balance, etc.. we will get back to this later.


Middle area- 

Canvass- This is where you cook your image, mixing all side well !!

here im giving some steps to do how to bevel and emboss in adobe photoshop :

Activate the layer you want to bevel in the Photoshop layers palette. If you want to bevel a selection within a layer, make the selection and copy it to a new layer (Command + J).

Choose "Bevel and Emboss" from the layer styles available at the bottom of the layers palette (the "FX" button). Check "Preview" to see any changes live.

Select a bevel style. "Outer Bevel" extrudes the edge outside the selection area, "Inner Bevel" begins the bevel at the edge of the selection and "Emboss" hovers halfway over the selection edge. Adjust the size slider to increase the bevel border and depth to focus the distribution of colors used to create the beveled edge. Use the soften slider to diffuse the bevel corners and inside edge.

Change the light direction with the "Angle" command. Positive angles shift the light upward and to the left, negative angles down and to the right. Increase the light intensity by increasing the highlight and shadow opacity sliders.

Check the "Contour" option in the Styles menu to the left of the dialogue to change your shape configuration. Click on the contour option and select a custom contour map. Contours with mountains, or ridges, tend to sink the surface area like a tray; contours with valleys raise the surface. Drag the range slider toward 0 (to the left) to soften the contour effects.

Add texture to the surface by checking "Texture" in the Styles menu. Photoshop will add a default pattern (usually bubbles). Choose a different pattern to find different pattern presets. Use the scale and depth sliders to control the texture effect.

 how to make a calender wallpaper using adobe photoshop:

Step One- prepare the calendar part. Visualize how your calendar should look like, arrange the dates in preferred order (A 7 by 5 table? or 31 * 1 horizontal table? or 14* 3 horizontal or vertical table etc, as you wish. It helps to keep the photo in mind, while preparing the table, so that you can use contrasting colour combination and position the calendar section in a place where it does't cover the main object of the photo. You can make this in a MS word or Powerpoint easily. Add any other text you may wish to have

Step Two: Save this calendar format as a PDF.

Step 3: Go to Photoshop, File-New. Fill up the details as below. (Chose the right pixel/inch values you may wish to have. If in doubt, use the dimensions of the photograph which you're planning to convert into calendar.)

Step 4: Go to File-Place, select the photo which you wish to convert to calendar. Resize if required, else hit Enter (or click on Commit Transform)

Step 5: Repeat the process to select the pdf which contains calendar template. This gets superimposed on the previously selected image. If the visibility is compromised due to wrong colour combination or bad positioning, edit your template to select right colour and position, save it again as PDF and repeat this process. Commit the transform once satisfied

Your calendar is now ready. Do save as and then you know what to do.

now select the image layer which you wanted to place inside the text.inverse your selection of the text shape.press 'backspace' to delete the selected part of the layer.
